Doom RTX – PrBoom+

So the following are the tools required to get classic Doom running in RTX, Real-Time Raytracing. Woot!

  1. The original Doom 1993 wad file (Classic Doom is sold pretty much everywhere, and very affordable)
  2. prboom-plus-rt (the source port, which has rtx compatibility)
  3. nvngx_dlss.dll (DLL file responsible for DLSS implementation, this helps reduce the workload on the GPU)
  4. RayTracedGL1-DLSS.zip (DLL file responsible for RTX implementation)

This is pretty much it, there are instructions on the GitHub releases page that describe how to enable the RTX mod, also showing an optional install for ogg boosted soundtrack. It’s up to you to install an additional soundtrack, as I am using the PS1 soundtrack anyway.

A word of caution when installing the mod, do not mix and match the DLL files with different releases of pr-boom-rt, otherwise, you will receive dynamic linking library errors. Download the DLL files that correspond to the pr-boom-rt release.
